    Our third stay and happy with it all. Sofia and her charming family are unobtrusive but make you feel totally at home, including presenting us with a wonderful home made moussaka. The villa is simply furnished but has all the basics and has a cosy traditional farmhouse feel about it. Very, very private, quiet and secluded, but just 3 minutes from the local village with good shops for food, bakery etc. and only 10 minutes from the throbbing heart of Rethymnon. 1 hr. from Heraklion and Chania. Car essential. Amazing 12km Episkopi beach also 10-12 mins away. ”

    Our best holiday from many years!


    We spent 3 very nice weeks in villa Ellotia. The house is really nice and it is a pleasure to eat outside with the sea view and the sound of goat bells. The house has good equipment and the service of cleaning is perfect. The situation is good. A car is necessary but is is not far from the nice village of Atsipopoulo, not far from Rethymnon and not far from a nice beach which was not busy even in august. We appreciate the calm. We spent very relaxing moment in family around the swimming pool. We received the warmest of welcomes. We appreciate the special attentions as fruits and cakes at arrival. Sophia, thank you so much for your kindness and your advices. A special thanks to your mom for the cretan food which was very good! The children enjoyed going to the farm.   We will recommend this house and if we come back in Crete, we will come back to this villa! ”

Sophia and her whole family are great hosts and took fantastic care to ensure that we were comfortable during our stay. The pool offers relief from the heat by day, and the mountain air provides a fresh breeze at night. If that's not enough, the house has AC. The location is just outside the hustle and bustle of Rethymno, about half way between Chania and Heraklion. The nearby village of Atsipopoulo (5 mins by car) offers services like grocery stores, an ATM, restaurants and a pharmacy. I would recommend this home without hesitation. You will need a car to get around from here. ”
